What is a Soft Tissue Tumor?
Soft tissue tumors originate from muscle, fat, nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues. These tumors can be benign or malignant. Malignant tumors are known as soft tissue sarcomas and tend to grow and spread rapidly. They usually grow as a painless mass.
Symptoms of Soft Tissue Tumors
- Mass: A lump or swelling that can be noticed in the body.
- Pain: As the tumor grows, there may be pain and tenderness.
- Pressure Sensation: A feeling of pressure may occur on nearby nerves and vessels.
- Movement Limitation: When the tumor is located in joint areas, it can make movement difficult.
Diagnostic and Treatment Methods
Biopsy and imaging techniques (MRI, CT) are used to make a diagnosis. Treatment varies depending on whether the tumor is benign or malignant. Treatment options include:
- Surgical Intervention: It is based on the principle of complete removal of the tumor.
- Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy: It is used as an additional treatment for malignant tumors.
